Kevin is web development consultant and educator working with people around the world from my office in rural Northern Ireland. He started coding at 8 on a Spectrum 128k and has been attached to a computer ever since! As a secondary school Maths teacher, Kevin spent a decade making complex topics accessible. He then migrated to being a web developer and worked with clients from Sega to the British Library to small, emerging start-ups. He enjoys helping developers continually level up and not get stuck in “tutorial hell”. He runs workshops and training to allow teams and individuals to rapidly upskill in new frameworks and approaches. Malvin is probably the UK's most experienced trainer in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop . Malvin worked for many years as a production journalist, photographer, designer and art-director for a wide range of national newspapers and magazines. He was assistant group art director at the Haymarket Press and art editor of IPC's Riding magazine, one of the group's largest consumer titles, and then the market leading Horse & Hounds. As a freelancer he has worked on the design and production of the Sun, Daily Mirror, Sunday Express, Sunday People, Woman, Woman & Home, The Sunday People magazine, Woman's Realm and other titles. He has been a journalism educator for more than twenty years and has taught in both the private and public sector at places such as City University, PMA Training, IPC magazines (training), the National Council for the Training of Journalists, the London College of Fashion, Reed Business Press and elsewhere as well as the University of Westminster. Malvin now trains professionals from a variety of industries, including publishers, banks, corporate law firms, football associations, museums and PR companies. Currently he is a visiting lecturer and consultant to universities and does seminars on advanced design to art directors of leading publications, and Desk Top Publishing technology training to the industry.
